Oklahoma Rep. Sally Kern, a longtime Religious Right favorite, says she doesn't want to sneak religion into the public classroom, just ensure that teachers "teach all of science instead of just the Darwin model." In February, she told a local newspaper, "It's a simple fact that the presentation of some issues in science classes can lead to controversy, which can discourage teachers from engaging students in an open discussion of the issues. Our students are not well-served by glossing over controversies, and I believe schools should develop policies that help guide teachers through this process."
